The spotlight this weekend falls firmly on Sandown, where the Coral-Eclipse headlines one of the best cards of the summer. The Group 1 contest regularly brings together the leading three-year-olds and older horses, and this year's renewal looks no different, with Aidan O'Brien's Constitution River heading the market in a competitive field.
Away from Sandown, there is plenty of international action to enjoy. South Africa stages its biggest race of the year, the Hollywoodbets Durban July at Greyville, while Saratoga hosts two Grade 1 contests on Saturday evening, the Belmont Oaks and Belmont Derby.
Saturday's domestic action also includes meetings from Newmarket, Naas, Beverley, Leicester, Carlisle, Nottingham and Bellewstown, giving racing fans a full afternoon of flat racing.
Sunday is much quieter, with meetings at Southwell, Ayr and Market Rasen rounding off the weekend.
The week ahead remains fairly low-key before building again later in the month. Monday features meetings at Ayr and Lingfield, with evening racing from Ripon and Wolverhampton. Tuesday brings jumps racing from Uttoxeter, alongside flat cards at Pontefract, Wolverhampton and Brighton.
Wednesday sees Fairyhouse stage a competitive flat card in Ireland, before attention switches to Newmarket on Thursday for the Princess Of Wales's Stakes. Leopardstown also hosts an evening meeting, providing another quality card to round off the week.

Race Notes
3:35pm Coral-Eclipse - Sandown
The Coral-Eclipse remains one of the highlights of the British Flat season and one of the few occasions when the Classic generation takes on the older horses at the highest level. Run over ten furlongs at Sandown, Saturday's Group 1 carries prize money of £1 million, with more than £560,000 awaiting the winner.
Last year's renewal produced a thrilling finish as Delacroix edged out Ombudsman by a neck, handing Aidan O'Brien a third consecutive Eclipse victory and extending his remarkable record in the race to nine wins. Once again, Ballydoyle looks set to play a leading role, with Constitution River and Hawk Mountain among the possible runners.
The horse everyone has to beat is Constitution River, who arrives on a four-race winning streak after following up his Dee Stakes success with an authoritative victory in the French Derby. Already one of Europe's leading three-year-olds, he benefits from the weight allowance given to the Classic generation and looks a worthy favourite if lining up.
His stablemate Hawk Mountain could also take his chance after another solid effort behind Constitution River at Chantilly, while the progressive Causeway has entered the picture following his impressive King Edward VII Stakes victory at Royal Ascot.
Among the older horses, Gethin has emerged as one of the main dangers after chasing home Ombudsman in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes over this course and distance. That form has taken on greater significance since Ombudsman's subsequent exploits, making Gethin a serious contender.
Saddadd also commands respect after winning over the Sandown track earlier this season before finishing a close third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, while A Boy Named Susie could represent each-way value. His fourth in the Prix du Jockey Club was better than the bare result after encountering traffic problems before finishing strongly.
The race's recent history points towards the market leaders. Most winners have been five or younger, already proven at Group 1 level, and arrived after a recent run in good form. Twenty of the last 21 winners started among the first four in the betting, while Aidan O'Brien alone has won the Eclipse on nine occasions, underlining just how difficult his runners are to oppose in this race.
With an exciting mix of Classic winners, improving older horses and a trainer who has dominated this contest for much of the past two decades, this year's Coral-Eclipse has all the ingredients to be another outstanding renewal.
Selection: Constitution River (Win), Causeway (E/W)

Antepost Watch
The betting for Ascot's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (25 Jul 2026) has seen one of its biggest moves of the summer following Benvenuto Cellini's impressive victory in the Irish Derby at the Curragh.
After suffering dreadful luck in the Epsom Derby, where he became trapped in the starting stalls before the race, the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt bounced back in style to land the Irish Classic. That performance has transformed his King George prospects, with bookmakers cutting him from an opening 16/1 into 5/1.
He still has two high-class rivals ahead of him in the market. French star Calandagan heads the betting at 5/2, while Japanese challenger Masquerade Ball is next at 7/2. However, if Benvenuto Cellini can reproduce the form he showed at the Curragh, he looks set to play a major role in one of the highlights of the midsummer racing calendar.
